Our Faith Formation Education for Youth & Adults
St. Olaf offers a Faith Formation Education Hour for youth 4 years old through 12th grade, September through May. Our classes meet to learn what the Bible teaches and how it relates to our lives. The lessons each week are the same as the Scripture readings in Worship and all ages study the same Scripture & lessons weekly, all geared toward their age level.
We offer First Communion classes for 4th & 5th graders each spring with First Communion being celebrated on Maundy Thursday.
Vacation Bible School for ages 3-12 is held each August with older youth and adults leading the music, skits, teaching, crafts, snacks and games.
Those students preparing to “Affirm their Baptism” (or be confirmed) meet on Sunday mornings to study the Bible, read the Word, study the Small Catechism, discuss how the Bible lessons relate to our lives today, and to encourage and lift one another up through sharing and praying together.
We offer experiential learning activities and events in addition to classroom time.
7th & 8th grade students can choose the activities and service projects they want to participate in and are responsible for keeping track of their own point chart. Students are confirmed after fulfilling the requirements and completing two years of taking part in the program.
Just as Christ gives us “The Invitation” to His Great Banquet, we too extend an “Invitation” to High School students to meet together on Sunday mornings during the Education Hour to pray together, share, support one another, and discuss the Bible lessons. They also have opportunities to take part in service projects, the summer mission/adventure trip, and other events, including the Badger TEC (Teens Encounter Christ) weekends in February and August. http://www.badgertec.org/
