INDIAN SUMMER EVENT

October 1-3 10:00 am to 8:00 p.m. at Ashippun Town Hall, corner of Hwy O & P.  Last year we attended the event and had fun canoeing, sitting in the tepees, and taking part in the Indian Worship service and learning about Indian culture.

This year, Dirty Kettle (the guy with the teepees) is looking for Confirmation Class & High School youth to help out at the event on Sat. & Sun. for a few hours. Please see the sign up sheets and sign up to help at a time that is convenient for you.  Confirmation Class youth can get service hours for helping out at that event.   Bring a friend or two to join you.

New this year, we will have an overnight campout opportunity for Jr. & Sr. High Youth and pitch tents and stay on the grounds at the Indian Summer Event and participate in the other activities that will be going on there.  We will pitch tents Sat. evening at about 6:30 p.m.   Bring a tent (or share with someone who has one), a sleeping bag, a snack to share, and whatever else you’ll need.   Be sure to sign up on the Youth Board so we know how many will participate.

Then on Sunday morning, Oct. 3rd our Confirmation Class and High School Youth will be able to attend their Outdoor Indian Worship Service at 10:15 a.m.  We would like to have all Confirmation Class youth & High School youth attend.  We will share lunch and talk with Dirty Kettle following the Indian worship service.  This will be our Confirmation Class for that day.  There will be no class at 6:00 that evening.    Make sure you mark your calendars.

SHOREHAVEN

We again have the opportunity to do Community Service and help out at the Nursing Home in Oconomowoc on the 4th Sunday of the month.  We meet here at 9:00 and leave about 9:15 to go to Shorehaven and wheel the elderly to chapel for Worship and then back to their room or to the dining room after Worship.  We need about 4 youth to go and one other adult beside Justine on the 4th Sunday of each month, beginning in Sept. through April, excluding Dec.

Please sign up on the Youth Board or let Justine know which month you can go.    Jr. High & High School youth are encouraged to sign up.

“CAPTIVE  FREE”

“CAPTIVE FREE” an interactive, college-age, traveling Christian Band is coming to St. Olaf on Sat. Nov. 13 till Sunday, Nov. 14th.  On Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m., they will do an experiential worship and program for all of

St. Olaf Youth & families.  We are inviting youth from other churches in our Cluster to join us for the evening

So, invite your friends to join you here.  There will be interaction time with the Captive Free Band after the program, Pizza to share, and games to play.

Captive Free will then do our Sunday morning worship here at 9:00 a.m.  They will be an inspiration to all ages.

We are looking for families to host one or two of the band members (there are 5 total) for Saturday night and bring them to church with you on Sunday morning.   Anyone that would be willing to have them as guests overnight on Sat. and for breakfast on Sunday morning, please let Justine know and she can fill you in on the details.

We will plan on having a Pot Luck Lunch following worship service that Sunday and we will need parent chaperones/helpers for that evening & for the Sunday Potluck, so if you are able to help out, please let Justine know.

So mark your calendars everyone for this exciting event that you won’t want to miss and tell your friends to come with you.  More info and flyers will be displayed as the date gets closer.

Do I Have Your Email Address??
Hey, I like to get e-mail here at Church  youth@st-olaf.org and if you’d like to know what’s going on here at church and would like to get an e-mail message about it, send me your e-mail so I can send you an e-mail.  I already have some of them, so if I do, just send me a message anyway.  And check your mailbox downstairs as you enter the Youth Center .
