We are calling it a “Backyard Mystery Mission Trip” since we chose to do mission work in state, in Milwaukee, not too far from home.  A mystery because we know we need to be flexible in our service to others let God lead us.  We will be doing other activities when not working with the children.

We will stay at Grace Place, an Urban Retreat Home and Ministry of Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church.

Our Mission is to work with Harvest Center Ministries, 7127 W. Lisbon Avenue in Milwaukee under the direction of Pastor Darnell Robinson and his wife, Donna, in working with underprivileged children bringing to them the Gospel and love of Christ through their children’s programs.

During the week, we will be doing Sidewalk Sunday School in different neighborhoods where Harvest Center Ministries is known.  We will be working out of the “purple mini bus” that travels through the neighborhood much like an ice cream truck where all the children run out very excited to be taking part.  It will be much like our Vacation Bible School.

We were told that the children in these neighborhoods love to come to church and to the Harvest Center where they feel loved and have good activities to take part in.   Sometimes the parents don’t even come to church but the children do.  They feel sad when they are disciplined by their parents and going to church is taken away from them by their parents. Just the opposite here.

Lifest Oudoor Christian Music Festival:   We will depart from Grace Place on Friday morning and travel to Oshkosh for the day, experiencing Lifest and all it has to offer.  Good bands, good speakers, and good entertainment.  www.lifest.com

If you are interested in joining us, please sign up ASAP on the Mission Trip posterboard that is displayed. Keep this mission and those going in your prayers, please.  Any questions, see or call Justine.

Do I Have Your Email Address??
Hey, I like to get e-mail here at Church  youth@st-olaf.org and if you’d like to know what’s going on here at church and would like to get an e-mail message about it, send me your e-mail so I can send you an e-mail.  I already have some of them, so if I do, just send me a message anyway.  And check your mailbox downstairs as you enter the Youth Center .

Thinking of you, Justine
