“CELEBRATING  OUR  BLESSINGS”

SUNDAY, AUGUST 30, 2009    9:00 A.M.  

MULTI-GENERATIONAL CORN ROAST & GAME DAY

 

Everyone has blessings in their lives to celebrate so we plan to celebrate our blessings along with the harvest of delicious corn-on-the-cob on Sunday, August 30, 2009 beginning with the 9:00 a.m. Worship Service.  At worship, Pastor Matt will bless all backpacks, briefcases, and laptops.  So bring yours to church for this special blessing.  Following the service will be roasted corn and a pot luck meal with games to follow.    

The theme of the day is multi-generational fun and games.  We will be celebrating the gift of our donated outdoor sports equipment with basketball competitions, volleyball games and tetherball. We’ll also have many indoor games that can be played by everyone including youth, parents, grandparents, friends and congregation members.  All ages are invited!   Prizes will be awarded for the various games played.   

This is a joint invitation from the Parish Life and Youth Ministry team and we invite everyone to attend to get to know one another and show your love and support to each other as members of God’s family here at St. Olaf. 

Anyone wanting to be a part of the planning or has some ideas to share, join us on Sunday, August 2 at 10:15 a.m. in the fellowship hall for our planning meeting. 

If anyone would like to be in charge of the various games, including basketball and volleyball, please let Justine know or sign up on the poster.  We would like rsvp’s on the advertising poster in the Gathering area so we know how many people to plan for. 

In the evening will be a drive to Heart Prairie Lutheran Church near Whitewater for an oil lamp worship service.  A nice outing especially for parents and adults to share some fellowship time.

Give thanks and continue to praise God from whom all blessings flow!

August 30 Sun.   Blessing of Backpacks at worship service; bring your backpack, briefcase or laptop followed by “Celebrating Our Blessings” Multigenerational Corn Roast and Game Day

 

 Evening trip to Heart Prairie Church near Whitewater (especially nice for parents and adults to attend and enjoy some fellowship).  Look for details in caller.

                                 

Sept.13  9:00     Rally Day – Celebration Worship service with John & Diane Windle & their puppets; followed by an important, mandatory meeting for Confirmation & Sr. High youth and parents in the fellowship hall at10:15 am 

 

Sept. 20  Blessing of Confirmation Students & Sr. High at worship service Start of  Confirmation classes at 6:00 p.m. and Sr. High Youth Gatherings  at 7:30 p.m.
